Feeders: When you send a covered deer feeder you send two gifts: the feeder itself, and the moment it arrives. There's the knock at the door or a package on the porch. And the next thing that happens is your special someone's heart races with delight as they open a gift they will remember you by for years to come.
Feeder Delivery: At Hurley-Byrd, we do things differently and oversee every part of the process: from the buying of raw materials, to handcrafting the feeder, to the day your purchase arrives at the front door. We send freshly crafted feeders direct and bypass all the middlemen, which means better feeders and a better value. (Don't just take our word for it. Thousands of customers rate Hurley-Byrd "best value.") We believe in complete satisfaction and lasting value, too, which is why we guarantee a perfect feeder for you or your recipient , and also that your feeders will outlast all others available and will be enjoyed from the moment they arrive and for years to come. It's all part of how Hurley-Byrd is changing how America feeds their wildlife.
Hurley-Byrd does it differently: We handcraft each and every feeder we sell. Beginning with our own designs, buying the finest western red cedar and crafting your feeders to near perfection with a beautiful penetrating oil finish so they last for years. We take pride in every step of our service, too--from the moment you first interact with us, whether on our website or on the phone, to the delivery of your feeders and gifts and everything in between. We want to make owning and gift giving easy for you. So whether it's a thank-you gift, a unique deer feeder or a whole feeding station for yourself, choose Hurley-Byrd and see what a difference our feeders really make.

Hurley-Byrd's Covered Deer Feeder (CDF) - 5th Generation!!!
Be ready for the inclement weather in the months ahead
There is no other wildlife feeder like a Hurley-Byrd Covered Deer Feeder.
With its unique and beautiful design, setting up a deer feeding station in your
own backyard is simple. It will provide years of added wildlife feeding enjoyment
for you, your family and friends. Once established, daily visits from your deer
will become a highlight of each day throughout the year.
Like all our fine products, each Covered Deer Feeder is handcrafted
is completely submerged in a large vat filled with finish then allowed to soak before a
final hand rubbing to further work it into the wood. This produces a
Free Standing Covered Deer Feeder
Are they easy to assemble and install?
All Hurley-Byrd Covered Deer Feeders are simple to assemble. A battery powered drill or
a screwdriver handle that accepts interchangeable bits is required as we use ultra high quality torx head screws
throughout our feeders. For assembling the roof, we provide the needed screws and a matching bit for installation.
The remainder of the feeder is assembled using carriage bolts, washers and wing nuts. The carriage bolts
and wing nuts allow for easy and quick assembly plus allow you to disassemble the feeder as desired.
Permanently Installed Covered Deer Feeders
Covered Deer Feeders
We utilize an Extra Large 35" or Ultra Large 47"
trough holding 25 or 35 pounds of feed in each feeder.
The trough is set at a perfect 24" height so your
deer, even the babies, feed comfortably.
The new roof is 21" wide, 47" or 59" in length and
its height above the trough adjusts from 16", 19"
or 21" to help protect the trough's contents from rain
and falling/melting snows. The roof and its supporting
legs can easily be removed and stored when desired.
All this stands on 34” feet with strong
diagonal supports. The new feet have gained
nearly 50% in length over previous models and no
longer requires ground staking. This makes moving the
feeder around or putting it up for storage far simpler.
Free Standing Covered Deer Feeders provide
you with the ability to simply move the feeder from one
location to another or as a feeder which can be stored
away completely when desired.
Of the two models we build, the Free Standing
is the easiest to set up, simplest to move and can quickly
be put away for off season storage.
Covered Deer Feeders (PICDF)
The PICDF's are built just like the Free Standing
version except there are no feet nor diagonal supports.
The base leg is crafted from a longer, heavier piece of lumber and
will be buried in the ground 12 to 14 inches.
A Permanently Installed Covered Deer Feeder will be used
by those who have a designated location for their feeders and
will have no need to relocate it or put it up in storage. Although,
the whole feeder can be fully disassembled leaving just
the buried legs for use on a later date.
Of the two feeders, the PICDF is the most secure
option. We recommend this feeder when you know the exact
location you wish to establish a feeding station and the feeder
will remain there. You may also wish to chose the PICDF if
your feeding location receives heavy winds.
In our opinion, the PICDF's sleek design with
clean lines produces the most elegant appearance and
allows your wildlife the easiest access.

What Makes the New 5th Generation CDF......... Well, NEW?
The 4th Generation CDFs of 2013 received upgrades from our years of building this feeder. Our goal was to
produce a more elegant design/appearance, better feed protection and do so without cost increases.
The biggest design improvement was in the roof.
The 1st-3rd Gen.CDFs had a roof approximately 16" wide.
This worked but did not allow us to raise the roof to
trough clearance any further than 17".
We upgraded our 3 segment roof to an
interlocked 4 segment, 22" assembly having full tongue and groove interconnects, even at the angled peak!
Once assembled, there will be no water leakage,
even during winter snow melt. Plus the new roof
with its simpler lines is far more aesthetically pleasing.
Increased Trough to Roof Clearance
Having a wider roof allows an increase
in the trough to roof clearance.
The old 17" maximum clearance did not
allow for mature bucks to get into the feeder.
More specifically, getting out of the old feeder.
With its 22 inches of maximum clearance, your
deer will feel safer and are less likely to get caught
up in the roof, subsequently lessening the
likelihood of a damaged feeder.
As before, you retain the ability to adjust the
roof as your feeding needs change. During the time of
year your deer are antlerless, lower the roof (16".)
In fall, raise or remove.
A Wider Stance
All old CDFs used a 24" foot. We felt this
was way too short and needed to extend the stance.
With the new leg/diagonal set-up, we have gained nearly
50% in width and easier assembly. No more ground
spikes allowing quicker, easier movement and storage.
In Summary, It's Our Best Yet.
There are lots of little changes, new improvements, etc.
Simply be assured when you use a Hurley-Byrd Covered Deer Feeder, you are installing the very best.
NOW Crafted in PWL for the 2015 Season
What's PWL you say? PWL is our newest lumber.
PWL stands for Preserved Wood Lumber. PWL is Southern Yellow Pine penetrated 100% with micronized copper fungicide. PWL is stronger, heavier and far longer lasting.
Which is our most popular?
Without a doubt, the Free Standing version is our
customer's number one choice.
It will allow you to move the feeder for better placement, easier lawn care and is
easier to store away.
As for size.... Time has
proven a nearly perfect split
between the Extra Large and
Ultra Large with the Ultra Large
slightly nudging into the lead.
With the price difference
being relatively small, we
highly recommend the larger
since you can always put 25
pounds of feed in a 35 pound
capacity feeder but never the
other way around.
AND... in our personal
opinion, the aspect ratios of
height to length is far more
appealing with the Ultra Large's more rectangular appearance.
